Project Background
Towards the end of my studies, I got involved with volunteering at Curtin University. John Curtin Weekend (JCW) is an annual volunteering program at the University that I was fortunate enough to participate in. I met some amazing people who I share some fond memories with.
When I mentioned that my major was in design, the individual involved with helping organise the program asked me if I was willing to design the yearbook for 2017 – due to a lack of interest from the students studying Graphic Design.
From the experience gathered through the few Graphic Design electives I completed, I was comfortable with accepting the challenge.
Process
My work process for this yearbook involved:
- Looking through the designs from previous years for inspiration
- Researching the best practices for the printing and online use of a publication design
- Working closely with the client to discuss the progress and ideas
Through several variations, alongside some trial and error, my design for the 2017 yearbook was finished roughly a month early. The feedback from the client and other stakeholders was very positive.
